TDOE Announces 2022-2023 Reward Schools

We are very proud to announce that eight Wilson County Schools have been recognized as a Reward School by the Tennessee Department of Education for the 2022-2023 academic year. Reward School status is earned when schools throughout the state demonstrate high levels of performance and/or improvement in performance by meeting objectives across performance indicators and student groups. Reward School distinction places significant emphasis on performance and improvement across all indicators from the prior school year.

“We are extremely proud of our 2022-2023 Reward Schools for their accomplishments,” said Director of Schools Jeff Luttrell. “Our administrators, teachers, students and staff members do so much each and every day to make our district one of the very best in the State. We love to celebrate our schools whenever they achieve great things. We will continue to reach higher and higher in achieving our academic goals and provide our students with opportunities to grow in all that we have to offer. The possibilities and potential among our students is endless. It starts in the classroom and we’re grateful to have so many dedicated education professionals inside our schools helping our students accomplish incredible things.”

Furthermore, Wilson County Schools (as a whole) is recognized as an “Advancing” district by the TDOE. This is higher than “Satisfactory” on the designation scale. Under Tennessee’s accountability system, districts are expected to increase achievement levels for all students and demonstrate student growth across all student groups. Districts are assessed on their performance across six critical performance indicators measured through multiple pathways. The indicators include Grade Band Success Rates, rates at which students are Chronically Out of School, performance on the English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA), and Graduation rates. District accountability scores are calculated using a weighted average of the district’s scores across all indicators and student groups to determine a district’s designation.
